    case study 4

SURV was requested by SA Water to attempt to release a number of seized valves within the Blue Lake water pumping station located at Mount Gambier in South Australia’s South East.

Ten critical valves within an underground chamber on the pump station site had previously had minimal operation, but together with SA Water, the SURV team worked to adapt, amend and improvise to safely access each valve.

Six seized valves were released, with five now in full operation, that can be safely cycled by hand, providing a more cost-effective outcome compared to a full valve replacement.

SA Water has requested a follow up visit from SURV to attempt to release the remaining four seized valves.

SURV achieved a 100% success rate, releasing six valves from six attempts.
