TRILITY sponsors 2026 Indigenous Local Government Drinking Water Symposium

17 Jun, 2026

TRILITY was proud to sponsor and support the 2026 Indigenous Local Government Drinking Water Symposium, a three-day event that brought together operators, council staff and government representatives from across Queensland.

The symposium provided an important opportunity for attendees to share knowledge, explore local water schemes, strengthen partnerships and discuss opportunities to support safe, sustainable drinking water outcomes for Indigenous communities.

The event commenced with the Water Industry Operations Association of Australia (WIOA) and IXOM Queensland Indigenous Councils Best-Tasting Tap Water Competition, alongside the Best Presentation Award and a range of industry-focused presentations.

TRILITY congratulates all participants who took part in the competition and presentations. Special congratulations go to Torres Shire Council, which was awarded the Best-Tasting Tap Water title, and Micah Geia from Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council, who received the Best Presentation Award.

A highlight of the symposium was the opportunity for attendees to tour the Douglas Water Treatment Plant, with TRILITY supporting a full site tour on the event’s second day.

More than 60 attendees participated across three tour groups, gaining valuable insight into the operation of the facility. Thanks to scheduled maintenance activities taking place at the time, visitors were also able to step inside one of the plant’s clarifier tanks, providing a unique perspective on the treatment process and proving to be a highlight for many attendees.

The tour received excellent feedback, with participants appreciating the opportunity to experience the facility firsthand and learn more about drinking water treatment operations.

TRILITY thanks the Douglas operations team for organising and delivering a successful site tour, and acknowledges Townsville City Council for its support in helping make the experience possible.

Events such as the Indigenous Local Government Drinking Water Symposium play an important role in building capability across the sector, fostering collaboration and supporting the delivery of safe and reliable drinking water services to communities across Queensland.
